Plateau Cedar Baskets!

Summary

Five centuries ago the indigeneous people in this area needed storage space. What to do? What to do? Why make waterproof Baskets, of course!!!! We stored food and other belongings. My favorite food to pick and store is Huckleberries.

Buzz

As I sat in the 12th Annual Northwest Native American Basketry Conference, I heard a guest wonder aloud, "Why do these things cost so much?!?!"

Well (wo)Man Hours.  Each basket can take up to One hundred hours. That's just a quartsize basket to hold your huckleberries in.

People

You have added information most people don't know. It's a good idea to have such a history page on your own site.
